This would be my second time purchased Dana’s patterns. The first was Kid shorts. What I like most about Dana’s pattern is her detail instructions with lots of clear how-to photos which makes it easy to understand & visualise too. The simplicity of the pattern which incorporated with variety of styles (both her shorts and dress/top) are a huge bonus! Totally a plus points for any sewist to buy her patterns!
Anyhow, here’s a two dress top I made for my eight years old daughter, Mia.
A simple dress top using plaid . Turns out quite well! Rockin’ her top at the new Spotlight store recently open in Malaysia.
Here’s another dress top with peplum style I make for her the following day. Yes, the pattern is so easy you can’t stop at making only one! 🙂
If only my hobby could turn into a full time job, I wanna sew this all day long. Someday perhaps uh? heh
Until then, bye peeps!
One of my favourite bag making patterns by Noodlehead (divided basket).
The first time I tried it I got it confused with the divider..then after reading the instruction over and over again , ahh I finally get it . This has been one of my go-to-handmade gifts for friends as well. Maybe someday I sew more and sell it..we’ll see 🙂
made a simple skirt and knot headband for my almost eight years
happy how a simple tartan fabric like this one turns out looking tres chic on
One of my greatest purchase at Sham Shui Po, (HK largest fabric market) was leather. It has been in my shopping list for the longest time. Luckily I found shop selling tons of nice soft leather on my way back to MTR. There’s many types, sizes and colours to choose from, obviously that didn’t make it easier for me – as I need to decide & buy quickly ( catching up flight back that evening!) .
Leather as we know ain’t cheap. Furthermore I took the risk of just buy it and think later how to sew ’em (truth is most of the time that has always been the case..haha buy, think later LOL). And boy I’m glad I take the chance heh. So one fine evening, kids went to bed early (hurrah!) and I got myself busy – measure and cut , one of my favourite cotton and leather to turn it into a bag.
Good thing about being frugal and the love of upcycle stuff, I kept an old zipper I ripped it of from my worn-out handbag. To be honest, I actually forgot where I kept it, so that night when I went to bed I was doing a “mental search” where could I hide/stash the zipper. I loathe working on a project and half way thru having to go to store to get stuff – major turn off!
Yup found it and get my hands busy ripping those fugly faux leather.
To make it more in.ter.esting, I decided to made tassels. Easy and cute add-on if I may say so 🙂 (how to diy leather tassels go here)
Long story short, I made my very first cotton & leather fold over clutch. It was beyond my expectation and damn glad I didn’t screw it up too! This by far is my fave project for this year (and 2013 almost coming to an end!) , more reason I got it done by two days. For a busy wife & mommy this is a huge success for moi.
Fits all my on-the-go stuff.
Now, let’s see whatelse I can make with the rest of my leather hmmm..
“never underestimate the power of a woman with a sewing machine” hehe a cute quote i found in pinterest.
Just sharing some stuff I made for friends 🙂
Sometime last year I have been dreaming of having my own label, not so much for sale purpose ( altho that is an awesome idea ) but for my own satisfaction. And so I asked a dear friend Mai, owner of okinokiyo sunhats & leelookids batik dresses & pants. She got her label done from insangpari.
Long story short in within two weeks or so I received my label. Satisfied and happy with the outcome.Ever since then after each handmade stuff I made and label it , I felt soooo good..heee.It truly gives your product a professional look. Look up insangpari in facebook if you’re interested to order.
On different note, here are some stripey tote bags I make for friends as gifts. Hope they love ’em. Oh except the colourful stripes that’s mine ..a birthday gift for me 🙂 Yerp turning a year older last 19th feb.
Wow! Its 1st of March today. That’s 1/4 of the year gone.Well good thing weekend comes the next day 🙂 Have a fabulous day ahead with your love ones.
Before we end our 2012, we held a small and intimate majlis akikah for my baby Mukhriz. It was on a beautiful Saturday morning, on 22nd of December.
We had two kambing golek, yummy lauk pauk and coconut jelly. There were about twenty marhaban ladies who came to officiated the event. Thankfully the weather was kind to us, it was sunny in the afternoon then it was drizzling quite a bit but just for awhile later back to glorious sun.
My three month-ish boy.
Dah chubby skit dah dia
Uhuh..my very “helpful” children
For this special occasion, I’m quite happy I manage to squeeze the little time that I had to make something for my youngest boy. A handmade mini jubah for him, the hot air balloon mobile hang on the cradle and the cloud pillows. Of course all was not done in a day, took me two weeks to get it all planned, prepared and sew up. The idea of all white and whimsical decoration came when I was pondering in my craft room and it clicked me when I was staring at my own curtain – that is full of hot air balloons and clouds.
Ever so curious kids
My cute niece Sarah & Mike. Haha so cute la these two!
“THIS is the way to take snap photo laaaa” HAHA
Ayoo ..it seems someone is busy with his new ip5
It was indeed a very eventful year for us all, felt almost like a year being pregger, got admitted to the hospital twice before actually went into labour. But all was good, alhamdullilah. And just today, we went for Mia’s school orientation. My girl is going to a big school.Oh wow! Feels surreal! I can’t believe my eldest is all grown up and ready to be a year one student in a big big school.
Anyhow I can’t wait what is instill for me in the next year. I pray to be always blessed by the Al-Mighty. InshaAllah.
Have a great awesome new year peeps and happy holiday 🙂 X
The rest of the pictures will be uploaded in flickr like always.
