Mia and Mike Birthday Party 2011

We decided to throw a combined birthday party for Mia and Mike over the weekends. We were occupied on their birth month (September) for few reason – celebrated our Aidilfitri and the following month,we went Australia for holiday. So we decided December it is!

Previous party I throw for them can be seen here and here.

I asked Mia what theme she likes and her answer was- ” a rapunzel party mommy!pleaseeee” . Mike is still very into his Buzz Lightyear , and so of course it has to be a Toys Story theme! Since it’s a combined theme ( a little crazy there i must say)  I was happy it somehow matches in terms of color – purple (rapunzel) and green (buzz lightyear) . It was easy once I get the color combo and quickly work on what needed to be done.

This time around I plan to have games for the kids. One of it was the pinata. I was inspired with Jordan Ferney’s DIY pinata [here] and  as a sucker for DIY I just gotta try. Number 5 for my girl . I knew it, my husband’s old album boxes will come in handy one day and so we used that! Reuse Recycle ;P .  Bought purple and green crepe paper to work on it one step at a time. Mia even help out at one point but gave up as she feels ‘tired’  and wanted to do more important things (like watching her rapunzel movie for the nth time!) .

As in previous parties, I love giving something memorable for kids. Mia’s 3rd birthday we gave  chalkmats as favors and in previous year was a small pocket  bag. For this party I decided its best to make drawstring bags. Since there’ll be a pinata filled up with sweets, the bag will do ’em good 🙂 .

The last thing I don’t like in a birthday party is wasteful on food and cake! This year, we didn’t order one, except the green and purple swirls cupcakes.  On the day itself I asked a friend a help me to buy wondermilk’s medium size cupcakes and treat it as the ‘birthday cake’. Almost all cupcakes gone by the end of the party. So yay! nothing was wasted. Success 🙂

One new things I splurge for the party would be the Ikea’s curtain I bought a week ago. I couldnt help it falling in love with the garland pattern on it so I must have that as the photobooth backdrop. We’re happy everyone was sucha sport taking pictures and using our silly props. Most things are recycled from our previous party.

Oh I must add, weather was great too! It was gloomy at first, but it just stop there, no rain. KL has been raining almost every afternoon til evening. Boy am I glad it didnt rain on the day 🙂 Alhamdulillah!

All in all, my kids had an awesome time with their friends and so do we. And THANK YOU my lovely friends who came and made a joyous day. Bless you!

Pictures time 😉

she even gave out a thank you speech to all guest 🙂

Finally dear farah!

On the day Farah send out emails to myself and her other closes friend to be her bridesmaids, I was thrill. Thrilled because she’s finally getting married! Thrilled we get to be her bridesmaid! And thrilled I indirectly get her closes friends emails  to set a plan with them to throw a bridal shower for her, which got everyone excited as well.Happy!

We’ve been exchanging ideas and suggestions over emails couple months back, and then finally February came without any one of us realise it, soon our dear farah will be getting married!

We then decided 14th of February would be it! M booked a spa room at Andana Glemarie for us girls to spend the whole day full of pampering! Farah was trick into believing to picked up M for a lunch date but was ‘surprise’ receiving a helpless phone call from her to come over the room. We had help from aunty (frm the spa-great acting btw!) informing M had a bad leg cramp. Farah parked her car at the entrance and was quickly rush to the room, and was freaking cluess why we were there! LOL.  She just couldn’t grab the idea how S and M know each other, and suddenly I pop-ed my head with a ‘surpriseeeeeee’. That was hilarious!

We had  ‘serious’ conversation, sharing ‘tips’, lotsa laughter on top of pampering from those massages, jacuzzi + bonus,food was yummers (damn those delish yee mee!). Each of us had not one, but two scoop of HäagenDazs. That kept us pweety happy! We ordered two movies, but rather than watching it we chat!

And yes, being a party lover – I volunteer making goodies bag which I sew a simple (orange & pink) felt purse, filled with lipgloss, panty liners & a  ‘smacking lips’ lollypop (idea taken here.TQ!). I add a tag I found in Eat Drink Chic to make it more personalize. Double awesome! As the theme was a Pink and Orange V-Day bridal shower. cliché i know. S helped out with her homemade mash potatoes p***s – looks damn real wei! LOL! (sorry wont publish the pic here)

Anyhoot, what matter most we make the bride-to-be the happiest girl alive! 🙂

I*heart* you babe!

Mia & Mike's Alphabet Birthday Party

I love my kids and I looove parties. On top of my office work and the house chores, yes I go commit myself with this ‘mini’ project some months ago. Yes, I prefer to plan ahead so not to get myself stress up the very last minute details ( but there still *was* when sumppljustdunudnerstdtorsvp ya know?!) Anyhow, organizing double M party was one hell of fun! The birthday girl was super happy the day finally came!

And since I love to make things I try to DIY as much as my mommy time permits.

Over couple of months, I’ve been exchanging ideas and party planning alot with Nadia. Good thing both of us share the same interest (+home decor + arts & crafts and the list goes onnnnn) and search whats best for our kids . She’s so resourceful. Thanks babe!

The alphabet theme came up because I feel since this year Mia started schooling, so obviously the first thing she learned in school is A B C 🙂 . Both my kids share the same birth month, again, it has to be a double celebration and alphabet theme fits best as its a neutral theme init?! Plus I need something as easy as abc to make and do too heh.

First and foremost, the birthday cake turns out just as I imagine it to be. Many thanks to Zurina’s cake. She’s genius! and easy to communicate with and prompt my emails and text messages fast. Totally recommendable.

I choose the colors pastel green,orange and pink as their party color theme. The color was based from the fabric that I sew for kid’s party favor bags. I was happy to get hold of the fabric when we were in Gold Coast.  Here’s a few things I make

-the scallop garland (yeah still a sucker!) and party garland ( get it here!)
-the pompoms (I’ve been meaning to find excuses to make this, what better way to use it during my kids party!) {tutorial here}
-the party favor bag ( brown for girls and blue for boys= filled with M&M’s chocolates, alpha crayon, pop up game, marshmallow; babies goody consists of coco crunch)
-the party hat {ideas here}
-the alphabet cups {thank you violet! – get it here }
-and  the alphabet crayons {tutorial ideas here and here}

Ted was awesome for helping out with the food labels, stickers and photo-booth. Most of our photo-booth prop’s are from Mia’s last year party.

This time around we have games. It was more for Mia’s friend rather than her baby brother, obviously. We had bowling, kids enjoyed that! and we have pin the pinwheels, where they are blind folded & had to walk up to pin at the right spot. Naturally all kids received a  gift token for each game. Every kids was such a sport!

And so, the must anticipated birthday party finally ended with on a happy note over the weekends. Above all, two major thing I must highlight here – I’m glad Mia and Mike was in their pink of health and secondly weather was sun shiny. Syukur! Because truthfully health and weather is beyond our control. So that is something to be grateful.

Dear friends and family who came, we couldn’t express how happy with your present on the day. Bless you soul! 🙂 Hope you had a great time at the party as much as I had fun planning it.

On another note, time flies super fast. Feels just like yesterday Mia w her baby talk and me heavily pregnant with Mike, and now my girl all grown up, being cheeky + silly is her best trait, sisterly love, independent and special with her own way. Mike on the other hand, is super active, adore his big sis and utterly cute little men whom I wanna snuggly & tickle every freaking seconds I get.
